About Us

During the British period in India, the ecclesiastical jurisdiction of the Diocese of Lahore extended over a wide geographical area, which included Delhi, several regions of present-day Haryana, parts of undivided Punjab, and portions of present-day Rajasthan.

Following the independence of India and the consequent reorganization of ecclesiastical administration within the Indian provinces, it became necessary to ensure the orderly management, custody, and administration of the temporal properties and assets of the Church of India situated within India. Accordingly, in the year 1950, the Delhi Diocesan Trust Association was constituted.

The Delhi Diocesan Trust Association was incorporated as a non-profit company under the provisions of the Indian Companies Act, 1913, in conformity with the applicable laws of India and in accordance with the Constitution, Canons, and Rules of the Church of India.

In keeping with ecclesiastical practice and constitutional arrangement, the Bishop of the Diocese of Delhi of the Church of India serves ex officio as the Chairman of the Delhi Diocesan Trust Association.

The DDTA was formed in 1950 to manage church properties within the boundaries of the Delhi Diocese as defined at its formation in 1947. After the formation of the Amritsar Diocese in 1953, the boundaries of the DDTA were redefined to include all of Delhi, Gurgaon, Hisar, Rohtak, Karnal, parts of eastern Punjab, and some cities in Rajasthan.
